Gone are the days when I hated picking out clothes in the morning.
Y’all. I am so loving having “limited” clothing options these days. It makes it so easy and I feel so liberated.
I’m still working on filling in the holes in my wardrobe, but I thought I’d give you a quick update and some details. I’m sticking to mostly neutral, very versatile pieces: Whites, creams, blacks, greys, and even surprisingly maroon.
I discovered that I was *really* not prepared for any sort of winter weather. Since I lost weight last year, I didn’t have any properly fitting full length pants. I had plenty of ankle pants, but those just look funny with socks. I purchased a couple of pairs of jeans (full length) and now I feel all set. I’ve recently taken up sewing, so I may be adding self-made clothing to my rotation–like the black circle skirt I’m making this weekend.
So, at this point, here’s what I’ve included in my preliminary winter capsule wardrobe:
There are actually a couple of things not pictured… they were in the laundry. Just a basic grey and black striped t shirt, my riding boots, and my jackets–a grey pea coat and a basic waterproof brown jacket.
I’m not limiting my “base” pieces like camisoles, plain long sleeve “layering” Ts, socks, etc. I’m also not limiting jewelry. I typically don’t wear much jewelry anyway, so in fact, I’m trying to up my jewelry wearing and variety. And clearly, I’m still wearing gym clothes to the gym.
So far, I have 27 pieces. I feel like I have a fairly versatile wardrobe at this point. I’ll be making notes about what I think I’m lacking as time progresses. I may add a cardigan or two before the winter is over. Luckily it doesn’t typically get that cold in Texas, so I can skate buy with short sleeves as long as I have something to layer on top.
Since I’ve taken up sewing, I’m also allowing myself to add in any garment I make that I feel suits me. 🙂
See anything I’m lacking? Have you tried to do a capsule wardrobe?
