Recently, I’ve had a conversation with many of you that just breaks my pea-pickin’ heart. It has come to my attention that some of you want to wear brighter (or darker) lipstick, but don’t think you can pull it off. I’m here to tell you if there’s a will – you can rock it! Wearing darker, more vampy lips can be difficult to get used to, but I totally believe that everyone can pull it off.
There’s a certain flow that comes with working up the courage to finally go for those deep dark, vampy lips. Not many people are comfortable going from nude lipstick (or none at all!) to those vampy shades that are great in autumn.

Moisturize! Dark lips, no matter how great the quality of the lipstick, beg to show imperfections. Make sure your lips are moisturized.
Start off wearing a lip tint. Something with a deeper wash of color, but still comes off as transparent. There are so many products like this. Some drugstore options you might be interested in are the Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm in Grape Vine and the REVLON Colorburst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum.
Once you wear the tint a few times, you’ll probably be more used to seeing a darker color on your face. Take advantage of that feeling and dive a little deeper. It’s time to move on to a little more opaque product, but first you need to line those lips with a lip liner. I use NYX Lip Pencil in Plum.
Now it’s time for color! Use a product like Maybelline Color Blur Cream Matte Pencil in Plum Please. Another affordable option is the ColourPop Lippie Stick in Ellarie.
If you’re scared to go out in public, start wearing darker colors when you’re at home! Once you feel comfortable inside, you’ll be ready to venture out.
As in step 3, once you’re used to seeing that deep, darker color on your lips, you’ll probably be receptive to trying something a little bit deeper. Find a product that you can layer, like Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Blackberry Sorbet.
By lining your lips, you should help prevent bleeding, but sometimes lip colors bleed regardless. Concealer is a girl’s best friend. Throw some in your bag to cover up any messy lips throughout the day… but let this deter you from trying out this fun trend!
And there you have it… deep, dark, vampy lips that you can rock all fall and winter long!
So tell me-are you a fan of the vampy lip?
I really hope this was a help to any one who has wondered if they can pull this off.
