GeezOhMan. I learned a lot of things about myself in month 2 of the makeup capsule experiment. To say this makeup capsule has been an eye-opener would be an understatement. Overall, I’d say month 2 was easier than month one and a tad more enjoyable. But the best thing about the capsule this month is that I fell in love with some long forgotten favorites.
If you’re just stumbling across this post and you have no idea what a makeup capsule experiment is, check out my introductory post on my capsule wardrobe experiment and my month 1 makeup capsule recap.
It’s becoming more evident to me that I have been majorly neglecting some awesome products in my collection. Month 2, the star of the show was the Naked Basics 2 palette. In a sea of neutral palettes, this little guy went unused for way too long. This month I wore it by itself, and paired with The Dream Sequence Bare Minerals quad. It was a dream.
Check out my post to see how the Naked Basics 2 compares to the Naked Basics original.
The other products were just ok. I enjoyed them, but I’m totally fine moving on to others. In other news, I successfully didn’t buy anything! I was really tempted this month and I started to feel like I was missing out, but you know what? I’m really not. All this new stuff will be replaced with other new stuff later. When my no buy year is up at the end of my makeup capsule experiment, I can do tons of research to know what’s really worth investing in. #SilverLining
Makeup Capsule Experiment – Month 3 Picks
For month 3 in the makeup capsule experiment, I wanted to lean heavily on the drugstore side. I inadvertently chose all high end products last time (minus a drugstore eye primer). This time, I about half and half.
LORAC Pro Palette 2
I wanted some bold colors this month. I also wanted the ability to wear neutrals, so the LORAC Palette 2 was just begging to be used. And y’all, check out the pigment in these shadows. Va-va-voom!
e.l.f. Blush Palette
Oh man. I am giddy over using this palette this month. It’s pigmented, and soft… and cheap! There might be a bit of chalkiness, but I’m excited to really test these out this month. 3 of the colors in this palette are super easy for me to wear, but the second color swatched will be interesting. I can’t wait to try!
NYX Wonder Stick
I’ve been all about the power contouring lately. I’m excited to throw it back to the product that helped me start contouring!
This highlighting powder is such a great value. Truly a drugstore star.
Milani Kohl Kajal Eyeliner
I’ve been playing up the liquid liner lately. This month I really hope to rock some soft kohl liner. To be honest, this hasn’t been my favorite look in the past, but I’m hoping to make the smudgey liner work for me.
LOC by Tati Eyeshadow Stick
A new product (to me). I think I got this in a Birchbox last year and haven’t touched it. I plan to make some use out of it and form an opinion on it this month!
Hard Candy Eye Primer
Coola Makeup Setting Spray
Another new product to me. I got this in a Birchbox as well and I really need to use it. I have literally no clue about this product. I haven’t heard anything about it, so it will be a real surprise to me no matter how it turns out.
So there you have it. Bring on month 3 of the makeup capsule experiment!
