Phew! It’s been a while since I just did a “catch up” post. The truth is that my life has been absolutely crazy and I just haven’t been able to do everything I’ve wanted to. Today I wanted to share with you some little tidbits on what’s been going on and share some favorites, too. Just a good old chit chat.
Prepare yourself for some iphone photography… life has been too busy for me to bust out my DSLR to capture. 😉
Well, it’s been a roller coaster of emotion around here. Last week my husband successfully defended his dissertation so he’s a PhD (without the paper until August). It feels so amazing for that part of our lives to be over. I am absolutely proud of him.
At the same time, it’s scary. For our entire relationship he’s been a student. This shift is bring us into a new season of life and the unknown is frightening. The one thing that makes me smile is knowing that wherever life takes us – we’re going together!
Since I ended my no-makeup buy year in April I’ve picked up a plethora of items. I still find that I’m more thoughtful when purchasing, but I’m still a beauty lover… I mean, come on!
Lately I’ve been particularly loving my Colourpop Ultra Satin liquid lipstick in Botanical. This color makes me weak in the knees it’s so gorgeous. I picked up a couple more during the sale last weekend so I cannot wait for those to get here.
I’ve also been in love with the Anastasia Glow Kit in Gleam. It’s probably my favorite product over the past year, to be honest. I can find a use for it every. single. day.
I took a little bit of time off from blogging this week to just recuperate from the craziness that is being a grad-student wife. He’s worked so hard… but I’ve been along for the ride and that’s hard for me to do. I (metaphorically) like to drive (but in reality I hate driving).
My husband has some interviews over the next few weeks so we’ll be traveling together for a few, and I’ll stay at home for a couple while he goes. We’re living month-to-month on our lease. We’re slowly selling bits of things that we don’t want to move with us. It’s been tempting to not just put our couch on the curb, but we haven’t resorted to that yet.
In the more immediate future we’re spending some time with family over Mother’s Day and I am so excited for that. We haven’t had a good family get together since Thanksgiving. Sure, we spend Christmas together… but if you’ll remember I spent a lot of Christmas in the emergency room and the rest of Christmas in near tears and in a tremendous amount of pain. A good family get together is due! My parents have put together some fun yard games for us, and we’re even having a cow milking contest! Stay tuned on Snapchat for that (MakingMrsM).
Thanks for letting me chat with you today. It feels good to get some of that out in the open. I’ve been sitting on it for a while and sometimes you just need to vent, you know? What do you have planned this summer?
