I have a confession to make: I’m always rushed to get out the door on time and it’s not because I’m a late sleeper. From the moment my eyes open at 5 am, to the the time my head hits the pillow at night, I am hustling. Sometimes it’s not easy to get everything done in a day, but I’ve finally found my rhythm. Today I’m partnering with Dove to talk hustle tips for boss girls… and I’m taking you through a day in my shoes. Get ready!
A Day in the Life of a Boss Girl
My alarm is ringing. 5 alarms, actually. I stagger them in case I try to ignore them. I usually get up on the 3rd alarm. I leave my husband and my dogs in bed and I sneak out into the living room, where I do most of my blog work. I hit “brew” on the coffee machine and saunter over to the couch, and wipe the sleep from my eyes – it’s time to start the day!
I open up my macbook, and I start pinning. I like to have 25 pins done before I leave for “work” on the morning (work is in quotations because it’s only one of my jobs – running this blog and social media outlets is another). By the time I get my pinning done, the coffee is ready. I grab a cup and finish scheduling my social media for the day. If I have time, I read other blogs and comment on and share them. On very rare days, I’ll also sit down to write a post at this time.
This is about the time of morning that I look at the clock and start to get a move on it. I throw back the rest of my coffee and I head back to make myself presentable. I have exactly 30 minutes before I have to head out the door. I quickly apply my makeup and then I head to the bathroom to tame my mane. I mentioned in my everyday contour post that I only spend 20 minutes putting on my makeup in the morning, and now you know why! There’s no time.
The ten minutes before I need to leave are always the most hectic. I’m simultaneously trying to decide on an outfit, brushing my teeth, and taming fly-aways. This is usually about the time that I remember that I forgot to eat breakfast, too. I grab a piece of fruit, throw it in my bag, and hop around the apartment while I put my pants on.
This is where having some things laid out the night before comes in handy. In a bowl, I keep my everyday jewelry, my to-do list, and Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant because no matter how late I’m running, I absolutely must grab these things.
7:15 am (usually more like 7:30)
Due to the chaos that ensues around 7:05, I’m typically lucky to get out the door at 7:30. On my way out, I give my underarms a quick spray and I’m out the door – no dry time! Life is too busy to worry about your antiperspirant failing. I like the Dove Soothing Camomile Dry Spray Antiperspirant because it smells amazing, goes on instantly dry with no visible residue, and I stay moisture free all day long.
True story – the other day I was running so late I almost grabbed my dry shampoo instead of my Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant. ? … so, don’t make that mistake!
The other day, I was working at my desk around 3 pm and I could not figure out who smelled so good. Then it hit me. It was ME! I smelled good, and it was all thanks to Dove.
7:45 am – 5 pm
While at work, I put my Boss Girl Hustle on pause because I’m not hustling for myself – I’m hustling for the man.
5 pm – 9 pm
Once that 5 o’clock bell rings I leave the office behind and I go into full blown Boss Girl mode. The evenings are when I do most of my research for new posts, writing, and photography. Speaking of photography… I don’t think there’s a time that I’m more thankful for antiperspirant – shooting around several hot studio lights will make anyone sweat, but I know I’m covered with Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant. It provides 48 hours of odor and wetness protection, all the while helping underarms stay softer and smoother. Phew! Go to Dove.com/trydry to learn more. #TryDry
When I physically have a hard time keeping my eyes open, I plop down on the couch, and my husband and I watch a TV show. I only fall asleep prematurely a third of the time… then it’s off to bed and I repeat the cycle all over again!
Hustle Tips for Boss Girls
My day may sound overwhelming, but there are a few things that help me get through the day with my sanity.
Make the list.
Know what needs to get done? Put that stuff on paper. Cross it off throughout the day!
Schedule time for fun.
No boss girl is any good to anyone if she’s constantly outputting and never inputting. Leave ample time everyday to take care of yourself. Schedule time for the gym, or to do something you enjoy. This will help keep things balanced and keep your creative juices flowing.
Learn to say no.
Before your plate is too full, learn to say no. Always say no to opportunities that just aren’t a good fit, but you should also say no when saying yes will compromise your ability to keep up and do a good job to your other obligations.
No matter how much gets thrown your way, stay positive. It’s important to learn not to sweat the petty stuff and not to pet the sweaty stuff (… with Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant this won’t even be an issue!). Sometimes just a change of scenery can help brush away the blues.
Keep your eye on the prize.
Last but not least, remember why you hustle. Everyone’s reason is different, but keep your eye on the prize and you’ll never have to question why you’re doing what you’re doing.
Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant has got you covered when it comes to wetness and odor protection. Make sure to check out their NEW Original Clean & Soothing Chamomile varieties next time you are out and about.
