This past weekend was our first weekend at home all month. The last 3 weekends were spent with family, and the one before that I was in Austin visiting friends (solo). Needless to say, I’ve been missing my home. John and I were so excited to finally have a quiet weekend at home to relax and get caught up with everything that’s been slipping around here… but fat had other plans, apparently. If you follow me on Snapchat (@MakingMrsM) you’ll pretty much know how miserable a lot of my weekend was.
Friday night we celebrated John’s first interview (yay!) with a really exciting company. We went out and got Freebirds burritos (Freebirds > Chipotle, and they don’t use fear mongering to market their proucts!), opened a bottle of wine, and sat down to watch Gifted Hands – the Ben Carson story.
Towards the end of the movie, I started feeling really warm… and I was already in “no pants zone” so I wasn’t sure why I was burning up. John glanced at the thermostat… 78 degrees. Crap. The A/C wasn’t working.
Hoping it was just frozen up, we turned it off with the hopes it would thaw out and then start working again.
Long story short, it didn’t. It was late, and neither of us wanted to wait up for emergency maintenance so we opened all the windows and decided to call for help in the morning.
It was pleasant when we woke up on Saturday, but it quickly became not-so-pleasant. I know that in some parts of the U.S. things are becoming nice and cool (so happy for you), but it’s still creeping to triple digit temps for us in Texas.
We called a handful of times about our A/C. The maintenance lady tried her best, but she just couldn’t fix it. Finally, we found out why…… she was working on the wrong outside unit. When she started working on the correct unit, the news was worse. No A/C until Monday.
In the mean time, we were scrambling to get ready for the Aggie game–my sweet mother-in-law called us up Saturday morning to see if we wanted to go, and of course the answer was heck yes.
So anyway… we sweated it out while we waited for my mother-in-law and my dad to get to our apartment, then we enjoyed some Fightin’ Texas Aggie football!
I totally got blisters on my feet walking to the stadium, so we stopped in the bookstore on campus and I got some $23 ankle socks. #Stylin
It was the first game in our brand new stadium and it was a glorious win against Ball State. I can’t wait to go to many, many more games in the new Kyle Field. I’m so happy my dad got to come, too. I love making memories with my family.
Tell me something positive. How was your weekend? I hope you didn’t sweat as much as we did.
