Trunk Club is my favorite way to add items to my wardrobe. I try to get a trunk seasonally just to refresh my wardrobe a little from the previous year. This fall, my Trunk Club for Women trunk did not disappoint! My main priority for this trunk was jeans. I told my stylist, Erin, exactly what I wanted and she delivered (PLUS some).
I feel like my stylist is really “getting me” this go around. Before my last trunk, I switched stylists because I felt I wasn’t being heard. I know I made the right decision this time because Erin really listened to my needs, with one fun exception… I still don’t know where this came from, but I’m game for at least one surprise in my trunk. I’ve fell in love with random picks before, so I try to keep an open mind.
Fall 2017 Trunk Club for Women
A few trunks ago, I snagged the black and white striped version of this tank. It’s a great layering piece, and it’s affordable. I didn’t end up keeping this one, because it was a tad see-through.
These are in the color ‘Norwell’ and they’re a great dark denim. If you like some stretch in your jeans, NYDJ do not disappoint! I have several NYDJ in my trunk… and these were on sale for less than $80 at the time of my trunk. I ended up sending them back, but I’m kicking myself a little.
I had no idea that I’d actually really love this top. It seemed super simple and boring in the preview, but as soon as I put it on, I knew I was keeping it. I’m excited to add it to my wardrobe. I love it plain, but also with a fun button up layered underneath.
I just wore it by itself in Scotland (with my Transcend Jeans from Paige Denim). See more of what I packed for Scotland.
This was an ADORABLE top. I think it would be great for the transition from summer to fall and winter to spring under a light jacket. I wanted to keep it, but it was just a little tight in the bust for me, so I had to return it.
Caslon Hi Low Hem Cold Shoulder Tunic
I don’t understand where the “cold shoulder” comes from, honestly. It’s just a basic tunic. Maybe I’m missing something? I did really love the way this fit, but I didn’t need anything in this color for my capsule, so I passed.
Yeah, no. I hate everything about this: the color, the wafer material, the sleeves. These sleeves swallow me completely. Maybe you’re the kind of girl who loves this style… I am not.
I have probably too much peplum in my wardrobe these days, so I passed on this top. It’s really great with jeans, though. It’s perfect if you’re a jeans and tee shirt kind of girl, but you want something a little more “girly”.
I was also sent the same shirt in a stripe!
This was another one I didn’t really intend to love, but as soon as I put it on, it was love. First of all, it’s the perfect color – maroon – and secondly, I love the fit. It’s super flattering and the hem is a delightful shirttail shape.
I love that this top is trendy and in tunic length. I also love the tiny stripes as opposed to fatter stripes. For $19, this was a steal! As soon as I sent the trunk back, I regretted my decision to part with it, so I went to Target and picked up a regular length long sleeve striped tee… it’s not the same, but it will do.
I think this was the wildcard item in the trunk. I’m pretty sure Erin just threw it in for fun, and since the rest of the trunk was spot on with what I asked for, I can’t be annoyed with that. That said- this was ridiculous on me. I actually laughed at myself in the mirror.
This just wasn’t the right material for me (loose knit) and I wasn’t crazy about the color. If it were a typical cotton, I might have really enjoyed it. If you like the cooler loose knit fabric, you might really like this, though! It was a great shape.
If you’re in the market for a plain black tee shirt with fun sleeves, check this one out. It really was a great little top, but I just didn’t need it.
I was so happy to see that my stylist sent me a couple of jeans in my favorite brand and style. I liked these a lot, but I sent them back because I didn’t see myself wearing grey jeans in the long run.
These are in the color ‘Nottingham’ and I don’t think I’ll ever love a pair of jeans more than I love these. When I put these on, the heavens opened and the angels sang. I’ve finally found MY JEAN. They’re perfect. I like to roll them a little and I really appreciate that rolled hems are still stylish enough I can do that because otherwise they’d be just a LITTLE bit too long for my super petite stature.
What I Kept
Totalling $256. The jeans make it worth it for me. I wear pants all year long and I already know that these are quality made and I love the fit. I’ve been needing a pair of traditional denim jeans, too, so it was perfect.
I also kept the v neck sweater and the shirttail hem long sleeve tee. I’ll carry both with me to Scotland and I know they’ll be great additions to my capsule wardrobe.
Overall, I’m really happy with how my fall capsule wardrobe is coming together, so be on the lookout for that post soon! In the meantime, give Trunk Club a try.
