Who knew fall started in September? I sure didn’t – not by Texas weather, anyway – but I learned first hand that September is a brilliant month in Albuquerque. The leaves are starting to change, the mornings are chilly, and it’s totally appropriate to break out my fall boots. I feel like we’ve stuffed a lot into the last week and I wanted to chat about it.
This past week…
I Quit My Job
Yep, that’s right. I walked away from my job of over 7 years last week. In a lot of ways I feel like I grew up there. It’s the only job I’ve ever held as an adult and to be quite honest I was just a kid (18) when I started there.
I learned an incredible amount in my time there. I made some wonderful friends. I even discovered that I have a knack for teaching, which is something I never really thought I’d love to do. My greatest satisfaction was taking a brand new student, teaching that student a new skill, helping them do it themselves, and then seeing them do it proficiently without me. I’m so thankful to have learned this about myself.
On my last day I assisted with the lab that I trained on during my very first shift in 2009. Each goodbye was bittersweet, and I’m thankful to have known all of these wonderful people.
I Flew on a Plane
Late last week we hopped over to Albuquerque. If you haven’t heard – we’re relocating in October and we’re pretty freaking excited about it. While we were there I ate so many green chile dishes… and by the end of the trip I was missing TexMex. New Mexican food is good – but it’s going to have to grow on me for extended periods.
While we were in ABQ we did a lot of house hunting and well…
We bought a house
Technically, we’re just under contract, but yeah… that happened. More details to come soon! I hope to share some more photos when we close, but here’s a teaser of the back fence. 😉
I Opened Up my Personal Instagram
I touched about this in a Facebook post, but here’s the truth – I have grown very tired of the blogging world. To be honest, I hardly even read blogs anymore and although I love beauty, my own space has been feeling rather boring to me. I came to the realization that – duh – if my blog is boring to me, what are my readers thinking?
So, I’m doing more personal, just for fun posts (like this) here – nothing “taught”, no awesome beauty tips – just chit chat and what’s new in my life. Because my primary Instagram has become extremely beauty centered I decided to open up my personal Instagram (theoriginaljaelan) to share my life.
