Whether you’re a beauty lover or just a makeup user, you’re going to want in on these beauty hacks. What if I told you there was a way to get more use out of your makeup products? ?? Sometimes it’s easy for me to forget that most women don’t want to use 10+ products every day just for makeup. One of my goals for the Makeup Capsule Experiment is to find versatility within my collection. What better way to do that than to focus on those products that serve double duty?
I started thinking about my go-to products when I’m in a rush and then it dawned on me – these are the perfect double duty makeup products to feature! Not familiar with a double duty makeup product? Sure you are: bronzer, eyeshadow, lipstick, and mascara. Follow along with this “get ready with me” post as I use 4 products multiple ways.
Beauty Hacks for Double Duty Makeup
For this look, I started with foundation, concealer, and eyebrows. I set my foundation with a light dusting of powder to keep products from slipping off.

Beauty Hack Bronzer
The first double duty beauty hack I have for you is bronzer. Of course, we all know the old fashioned way to use it – as a contour or to warm up the face. Brush a little under your cheekbones to add a nice shadow and lightly dust it on your temples to give your face some warmth.
But, did you know that you can use your bronzer as an eyeshadow in a pinch? In fact, it’s one of my favorite beauty hacks for a “no makeup look” face. I simply take a fluffy crease brush and sweep the bronzer into my crease and down onto the lid. It’s natural and gives the eyes a little somethin’-somethin’ when you’re in a rush to get out the door.
My favorite bronzer for this trick is Hoola Bronzer by benefit. It’s perfectly neutral and has such great (but not too much) color payoff.
Beauty Hack Eyeshadow
If you have a shimmery, champagne eyeshadow you’re struggling to get use out of (whether it’s in a palette or a single), I’ve got the beauty hack for you!
My favorite traditional way to use a champagne eyeshadow is to dab it in the middle of the lid. This brings light to the center of the eye and helps you look more awake. On days where I need an IV of coffee, this trick really comes in handy.
But there’s another way you can get use out of your shimmery light eyeshadows – as a highlight. Many women are already using these shades to highlight their brow bones. It makes for a gorgeous effect. Why not wear it on your cheekbones, too? I’ve found that a lot of eyeshadows pack a bigger punch than “highlighters” that are marketed in the store. Take a fan brush (or just a brush that isn’t dense) and sweep the product across your cheekbones for instant glow.
Beauty Hacks Lipstick
I feel like this lipstick beauty hack could be a post in and of itself. There are SO many uses for lipsticks. Remember that popular pin that was floating around with the bright red lipstick to cover undereye circles? Well, I haven’t personally tested that one, but this one is just as great.
Use your lipstick as a blush! This one is a no-brainer, and it makes it that much easier to find a coordinating cheek and lip color. There are products marketed as a dual purpose product, but really you can just pull a lipstick out of your collection.
The only suggestion I’d give you for this is to test out blending the product on your hand, first. That way you can see what the finish is like once the lipstick is sheered out. I wouldn’t choose an overly moisturizing lipstick or you may have issues with it looking oily on your skin.
Beauty Hacks Mascara
So you’ve found your bae mascara – great! It’s super black, it doesn’t flake, and it stays all day long. Why not double up the use and apply it as an eyeliner, too?
Take a liner brush and paint some mascara on it. Then, carefully line your lashes like you’d line with any other liquid eyeliner. I think this is a great beauty hack for those of you who want to try liquid liner, but don’t want to buy a product that you’re not sure you’d like.
I did this super fun liner look with just a liner brush and my trusty Elizabeth Mott Mascara – wing and all!
And there you have it – a full face of makeup using double duty makeup products. What’s your favorite beauty hack?
