Hi! I’m Jaelan: a certified birth doula, certified childbirth educator, mother, wife, and lover of sunflowers!
In my perfect world, I spend my days creating STEAM activities for my son, zenning out in yoga, listening to podcasts, and planning board game nights with my husband… but in actuality, I’m chasing my toddler around as he scales every high surface in my home, and my personal hygiene is questionable. #MomLife, right?
During naptime, I enjoy sewing and working towards my personal goal of having a 100% “me made” wardrobe.
I am a graduate of Texas A&M University with a major in Animal Science and an emphasis in Dairy Management. Growing up on a farm, my first interests involved animals. It only made since that my first job out of college would be teaching others about animals as a veterinary anesthesia technician and instructor.
In 2016, my husband and I moved over 800 miles for a new career in the desert. Shortly after that monumental move, my mom died quickly and unexpectedly. My whole life changed. I knew I needed to pursue a passion I found meaningful, and for me, that was birth work. That year, I completed my doula training, and got my first doula gig at New Life Birth Services in Albuquerque (where I still practice over two years later!).
After having a difficult birth experience myself, I feel even more equipped to help guide families through the childbearing year.
I’m so thankful you’re here. Feel free to email me.
